Services:
When asked what I do; my stock answer is "I draw pictures and colour them in." Friends and satisfied clients frequently rebuke me that my "elevator speech" needs work. So here's the revised version of my services as a less snappy list.

Illustration and Design - pretty much anything that needs a picture or layout really. See? "Drawing pictures and colouring them in." A few examples are:
Humorous Illustration and Cartooning. Including children's book illustration. My favourite job.
Carpet Design - my first professional skill, although surface pattern design is, of course, not restricted to carpets. My uniqueness in the area, however, is being able to act as the go-between for architects/interior designers and the carpet designer/manufacturer. If you have a strangely-shaped floorspace to which you need a carpet to fit exactly - borders skimming the walls and motifs placed strategically under lighting or between columns? I can create the template for the manufacturer to work with. My many years in that industry have gave me an intimacy with the manufacturing process that allows me to predict what the designer/weaver needs and thus save time and money on a project.
Advertisement Design.
Artwork for music CDs and DVD covers.
Photo Manipulation and Restoration. Although I'm perfectly capable of it please don't ask me to create one of those silly all-too-perfect images that are all over the magazine world these days. Sure, I'll remove a few pimples and bloodshot eyes but the idea of human perfection is silly and vain. What I and people like me are capable of can give people very false aspirations for themselves. It's quite hateful.
Portraits - both naturalistic and humorous - pets too.
Corporate and Brand Identity - including logo and stationery design. Is it appropriate to print your own stationery from your own desktop computer on the fly? Then I'll encourage you to do so and supply artwork that you can import into your chosen office software. Many startup businesses, and a great many established ones, have little need for large amounts of stationery so why not print your own? Email me and we can chat about what you need.
Brochure design/layout. Logo stuff too.
Traditional Media - watercolour, pencil, pen & ink and a combination of them.
Don't forget that design includes problem solving - it's not just decoration. Email me with what you may have in mind and we'll see if I can help.
